 Why We Celebrate Navratri And Dussehra

हिंदू धर्म में सभी व्रतों को लेकर कई प्रकार की मान्यताएं जुड़ी होती हैं कि उपवास (Navaratri vrat) के दौरान क्या खाना चाहिए, कैसे रहना चाहिए और क्या करना चाहिए. इसी तरह नवरात्रि के नौ दिनों के व्रत में भी कई नियम हैं.

नवरात्रि में दौरान मां दुर्गा के लिए रखे 9 व्रतों में कई चीज़ों को करने की मनाही, तो कुछ काम अवश्य ही करना चाहिए. यहां जानिए कि अगर आप इस नवरात्रि शक्ति रूप मां दुर्गा (Durga) का व्रत रख रहे हैं तो किन बातों का खास ध्यान रखें.

ता दें कि इस बार शारदीय नवरात्रि (Shardiya Navaratri 2023 details ) 15 अक्टूबर से 24 अक्टूबर तक रहेंगे.

इस दौरान हर दिन मां दुर्गा के सभी 9 रूपों की पूजा की जाएगी.

1. नवरात्रि के दौरान लहसुन, प्याज़ और मांसाहार ना खाएं और घर के बाकि सदस्यों के लिए भी ना बनाएं. शराब और तंबाकू से भी दूरी बनाएं.

2. नाखून, बाल, शेव ना करवाएं. इस दौरान बच्चों का मुंडन भी ना करवाएं.

3. व्रत भूखा रहने का नाम नहीं बल्कि मन को शांत रखने का एक जरिया है. इसीलिए व्रत के दौरान गुस्सा ना करें और झूठ ना बोलें. मन को शांत और जुबान पर अच्छे शब्द रखें.

4. नवरात्रि के दौरान सूरज उगने से पहले उठे और ढलने के बाद ही सोएं. यानी दिन में ना सोएं.

5. जिन लोगों ने भी घर में मां दुर्गा की अखंड ज्योति जला रखी है वो घर में ताला ना लगाएं और ना ही घर को अकेला छोड़ें.

6. मान्यता है कि नवरात्रि के दौरान काले रंग के कपड़े नहीं पहनने चाहिए.

7. व्रत के दौरान अनाज और मसालों से दूर रहें. कुट्टू का आटा, सिंघाड़े का आटा, साबुदाना, मेवे, फल और दूध से बनी चीज़ें ही खाएं. सेंधा नमक का इस्तेमाल करें.

8. सुबह और शाम की पूजा के दौरान अच्छे मन से दुर्गा सप्तशती का पाठ करें.

9. मान्यता है कि व्रत रखने वाले व्यक्ति को जमीन पर सोना चाहिए और ब्रह्मचार्य का पालन करना चाहिए.

10. अगर इन नियमों का पालन ना कर पाएं तो व्रत रखने के बजाय सिर्फ नवरात्रि में मां दुर्गा का पूजन ही करें.

Thousand years ago there was a tyrant called Mahishasur. He was part demon & part buffalo.

Mahishasura meditated for thousands of years of Lord Brahma and in return be blessed with immortality and power.

After much penance, his plan worked. Each & every God blessed Mahishasura with different powers.

Durga battled Mahishasura for ten whole days. On the Tenth day, she managed to chop off his head with a sword.

For this, we celebrate the ten days of Durga Pooja.

Navratri 2022 is a ten-day carnival and celebrated by all Indian or Nation.

On the last day, Vijay Dashami, we celebrate Goddess Durga’s killing of Mahishasura.

  • Lord Rama praying to Goddess Durga

Another legend has it that Lord Rama fasted and prayed for 9 days to seek Goddess’ blessings to kill Ravana. He kills him on the 10th day, and this day is called Dusshera, the day when the 10-headed Ravana was killed.

9 days of Navratri 2023, 9 forms of Durga, called nav-Durga, are worshiped in the following order:

1.Shailaputri

Shail” means mountains, “Putri” means daughter. Sati BhavaniParvati or Hemavati, the daughter of the King of the Mountains Himavan, is called ‘Shailputri“.

The first among nine Durgas and her worship takes place on the first day of Navratri 2023 details – the nine divine nights. The embodiment of the power of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, she rides a bull and carries a trident and a lotus in her two hands.

2.Brahmachari

She is worshipped on the second day of Navratri 2023 details and is the second form of Mother Goddess.

Bharmacharini means one who practices devout austerity. She enlightens us in the magnificent embodiment of Durga with great powers and divine grace.

Brahma that is who observes penance (tapa) and good conduct. Here “Brahma” means “Tapa”. The idol of this Goddess is very gorgeous.

On left-hand, she holds, a “Kumbha” or water pot, and the right hand holds a rosary. She personifies love and loyalty.

Bhramcharini is the storehouse of knowledge and wisdom.

Rudraksha beads are her most adored ornaments. She is blissful and endows happiness, peace, prosperity, and grace upon all devotees who worship her.

Filled with bliss and happiness, she is the way to emancipation – Moksha.

3.Chandraghanta

The third face of Goddess Durga is ‘Chandraghanta‘, who is worshipped on the third day of Navaratri, for peace, tranquility, and prosperity in life.

She has a ‘chandra’ or half moon in her forehead in the shape of a ‘ghanta’ or bell. That is why she is called ‘Chandraghanta‘.

She is Golden in color, possesses ten hands and 3 eyes. Eight of her hands display weapons while the remaining two are respectively in the mudras of gestures of boon giving and stopping harm.

She is charming, has a golden bright complexion and rides a lion. She is the apostle of bravery and possesses great strength to fight in the battle against demons.

4.Kushmanda

Kushmanda is the fourth form of the mother goddess and is worshipped on the fourth day of Navaratri.

She possessed of eight arms, holding weapons and a mala ( rosary),

her mount is the tiger and She emanates a solar aura.

The meaning of the name ‘Ku-sham-and’  ( ‘Ku‘ = a little; ‘ushma‘ = ‘warmth’; ‘anda‘ = ‘the cosmic egg’).

So she is considered the creator of the universe.

The universe was no more than avoid full of darkness until her light spreads in all directions like rays from the sun.

5.Skandamata

The fifth aspect of the Mother Durga is known as ‘Skanda Mata‘ – the mother of Skanda or Lord Kartikeya, who was chosen by gods as their commander in chief in the war against the demons.

She is worshipped on the fifth day of Navaratri.

She is accompanied by the Lord Skanda in his infant form. Rising a lion as Her chosen vehicle, She holds Her son Skanda on her lap.

She has three eyes and four hands; two hands hold lotuses while the other two hand display defending and granting mudras, respectively.

It said, by the mercy of Skandmata, even the fool becomes an ocean of knowledge.

6.Katyayani

The sixth form of Mother Durga is known as ‘Katyayani’, who is worshiped on the six days of Navaratri.

The legend behind her name is that there was a great sage called Kata, who had a son named Katya.

Kata was very famous and renowned in the lineage of saints.

He underwent long austerities and penance in order to receive the grace of the Mother Goddess.

He wished to have a daughter in the form of a goddess. According to his wish and desire, the Mother Goddess granted his request.

Katyayani was born to Kata as an avatar of Durga.

7.Kaalratri

This is the seventh form of Mother Durga and is worshipped on the seventh day of Navaratri.

She has a dark complexion, disheveled hair, and a fearlessness posture.

She has three eyes that shine bright and terrible flames emanate from her breath.

Black (or blue ) skin with bountiful hair and 4 hands, 2 clutching a cleaver and a torch, while the remaining 2 are in the mudras of “giving” and “protecting“.

Her left upper hand holds a thorn-like weapon, made of iron and there is a dagger in the lower left hand. Her vehicle is a faithful donkey.

She is the destroyer of darkness and ignorance.

8.Maha Gauri

She is worshipped on the eighth day of Navaratri. Her power is unfailing and instantly fruitful.

As a result of her worship, all sins of past, present, and future get washed away and devotees get purified in all aspects of life.

MahaGauri is intelligent, peaceful and calm. Due to her long austerities in the deep forests of the Himalayas, she developed a dark complexion.

When Lord Shiva cleaned her with the water of the Ganges, her body regained its beauty and she came to be known as MahaGauri, which means extremely white.

Her left upper hand holds a thorn-like weapon, made of iron and there is a dagger in the lower left hand.

She is as white as a conch, moon, and Jasmine.

She is of eight years old. With four arms and the fairest complexion of all the Durga Shaktis, Mahagauri radiates peace and compassion.

She is often dressed in a white or green sari. She holds a drum and a trident and is often depicted riding a bull.

9.Siddhidatri

Siddhidatri is the ninth form of Goddess. She is worshipped on the ninth day of Navaratri.

There are eight Siddhis, they are- Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Iishitva, and Vashitva.

Siddhidatri has supernatural healing powers.

She has four arms and she is always in a blissful happy enchanting pose. Rides on the lion as her vehicle.

Blesses all Gods, saints, yogis, tantric and all devotees as a manifestation of the Mother Goddess.

It is said in “Devipuran” that the Supreme God Shiv got all these Siddhies by worshipping Maha Shakti.

With her gratitude, the half body of Shiv has become of Goddess and therefore his name “Ardhanarishvar” has become famous.

Usually shown ensconced a lotus with four arms, She is the grantor of 26 different wishes to Her Bhaktas.

शारदीय नवरात्रि – कलश स्थापना व पूजा विधि

व्रत का संकल्प लेने के बाद, मिट्टी की वेदी बनाकर ‘जौ बौया’ जाता है। इसी वेदी पर कलश स्थापित किया जाता है।

दरअसल हिंदूओं में किसी भी शुभ कार्य की शुरुआत से पहले सर्वप्रथम भगवान श्री गणेश की पूजा की जाती है। कलश को भगवान गणेश का ही रूप माना जाता है।

कलश स्थापना से पहले अच्छे से पूजा व स्थापना स्थल को गंगाजल से पवित्र कर लें। पूजन में समस्त देवी-देवताओं का आह्वान करें।

कलश में सात तरह की मिट्टी, सुपारी व पैसे रखे जाते हैं। पांच प्रकार के पत्तों से कलश को सजाया जाता है।

मिट्टी की वेदी पर सतनज व जौ बीजे जाते हैं जिन्हें दशमी तिथि को पारण के समय काटा जाता है। कलश पर कुल देवी की प्रतिमा स्थापित कर उसका पूजन किया जाता है।

इस दिन “दुर्गा सप्तशती” का पाठ किया जाता है। पाठ पूजन के समय अखंड जोत जलती रहनी चाहिए।

नवरात्रि की पहली तिथि में दुर्गा माँ के प्रारूप माँ शैलपुत्री की आराधना की जाती है| इस दिन सभी भक्त उपवास रखते हैं और सायंकाल में दुर्गा माँ का पाठ और विधिपूर्वक पूजा करके अपना व्रत खोलते हैं|

शारदीय नवरात्रि 2023 कलश स्थापना मुहूर्त

इस साल कलश स्थापना का मुहूर्त 15, अक्टूबर, 2023 को सुबह 11:44 से 12:30 तक का है.

कलश स्थापना के लिए  सुबह उठकर सुबह स्नान कर साफ सुथरे कपड़े पहनें. इसके बाद व्रत का संकल्प लें.

घट स्थापना के दौरान मिट्टी का थोड़ा ऊंचा बेदी बनाकर जौ को बौ दें. अब इसी वेदी पर कलश की स्थापना करें.

इसके बाद कलश के ऊपर कुल देवी की मूर्ति को स्थापित कर पूजा करें और मां दुर्गा का पाठ भी करें. इसके साथ ही मां दुर्गा की मूर्ति के आगेअखंड दीप जलाने का भी विधान है.
